We are looking for a Software Engineer with a background in software development to support a major UK Government programme from locations throughout the UK.

THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY
You will lead a transition team responsible for taking over support, maintenance, and ongoing development of complex front-office applications from an incumbent software team. Working closely with the programme delivery manager, fellow technical specialists, external partners, and customer teams, you will establish and implement the technical strategy for a successful knowledge transfer and seamless transition. You will undertake the following activities:
Analysis of complex application landscapes and technical requirements;
Direction and participation in knowledge transfer activities from the incumbent team;
Provision of technical leadership and guidance to your transition team and broader stakeholders;
Assessment of support, maintenance, and development processed with a focus on efficiency and service continuity;
Creation of comprehensive technical specifications and documentation;
Planning, estimation, and scheduling of transition tasks;
Collaboration with customer teams to ensure successful handover and ongoing operations.
PROFILE
Required Skills:
In-depth knowledge and experience of designing, developing, and supporting client facing applications in cloud environments (Azure, Oracle Cloud, Google Cloud);
Strong analytical skills for assessing existing application landscapes and determining optimal transition approaches;
Experience planning and executing knowledge transfer activities from incumbent teams;
Expertise in development and support of .NET, SQL, JavaScript, and XML technologies;
Knowledge of integration services and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) including PEPPOL standards;
Knowledge of Oracle products and integration services;
Excellent documentation skills including creating High-Level and Low-Level Designs and supporting transition documentation;
Experience of standard engineering and service management methodologies;
Demonstrated ability to lead small technical teams through complex transitions;
Strong communication skills for managing stakeholder relationships during transition periods.
Desired Skills:
Experience with Android application development and support
Experience with identity management solutions, particularly Azure Entra ID;
Skill in translating technical discussions into business terms;
Experience creating and sustaining relationships with vendors, providers, and contractors;
Design and implementation of solutions in high-availability, business-critical environments
This position is a full time, permanent role and applicants must have (or be able to acquire) SC clearance. Ad-hoc travel may be required to various customer and Leidos sites
