U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command Supervisory Budget Analyst in North Chicago, Illinois

Summary About the Position: The U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command, headquartered in North Chicago, IL, is a jointly staffed command, staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces. The command, through its 65 military processing locations (Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS)/Remote Processing Stations (RPS)), determines whether applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the services. See Term appointment info below under Qualifications. Responsibilities Advise management on command's budget execution functions (i.e., formulation, justification, presentation). Monitor budget execution and prepare deviation analysis. Ensure program requirements are translated into funding requirements, prioritized and available funds are efficiently distributed to support established mission, objectives, and goals. Develop budget/financial policies and procedures for the command/field. Interpret higher level guidance to apply to command guidance. Prepare a variety of financial reports for meetings and briefings. Provide training to all levels of staff on financial matters. Assign work to subordinate staff based on priorities and ability of staff member. Evaluate and rate work of subordinate staff. Hear/resolve complaints from employees and effect minor disciplinary measures. Recommend ways to improve production of the office. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications TERM APPOINTMENT INFORMATION: This position is TERM not to exceed 366 days with provisions to extend up to a maximum of eight years. Specialized Experience Required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, such as: Formulating budgets to adequately fund organizational programs; Monitoring expenditures to ensure cost-effective support of programs; Advising management on financial aspects of projects and accounts to ensure compliancy of budgetary regulations; Preparing budget reports to identify discrepancies and/or funding shortages. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11) For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience along--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Budget Execution Budget Formulation, Justification, and Presentation Concepts, Policies, and Principles of Budget Managing Human Resources Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
