WestRock Company Maintenance Technician in North Chicago, Illinois

We are building a new state-of-the-art facility in Pleasant Prairie, WI. Training for this position will take place at our North Chicago location temporarily and transfers to Pleasant Prairie will take place once operations begin.

Title: Maintenance Technician - North Chicago, IL/Pleasant Prairie, WI

Starting Pay: Based on Experience/Skill Level: $28.70 - $42.07

Benefits: Full benefits on day one of employment + OT Pay!

Primary duties: include providing safe and timely electrical support, preventative maintenance, installation, service, repair, troubleshooting and resolution of multiple operating machines within a manufacturing industrial environment

The ideal candidate: will have mechanical and electrical experience, a familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatics and have basic troubleshooting experience with proven ability of machine repair.

What you need to succeed:

  • A basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • A basic understanding of Preventative Maintenance programs

  • Knowledge/ experience with basic mechanical components and concepts (ie: Gears and Gearboxes, Bearings, Drive Shafts, Couplings, Sprockets, Chains)

  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings

  • Working knowledge of power transmission equipment

  • Familiar with pumps, both pneumatic and electric

  • Some knowledge of the various types of sensors and limit switches

  • Familiar with computers and Microsoft software

  • Familiar with pumps, both air and electric

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently in a mature and professional manner

  • PLC troubleshooting and problem-solving ability with practical, mechanical and electrical aptitude

  • Ability to work flexible hours, overtime

  • An operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery which includes: motors, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3 phase power, communication devices, industrial /electronic controls, and power transmission systems

  • Read and interpret electrical drawings and logic/ control diagrams

  • Troubleshooting industrial electrical control systems down to component level (2-3 years preferred)

  • Able to install, setup, and troubleshoot both AC and DC drives

  • Familiar with pumps, both pneumatic and electric

  • Able to troubleshoot basic 3 phase motor control circuits

  • Basic welding skills
