Senior Auditor - Hybrid

As a key member of our Audit & SOX team, you will perform financial, compliance, and operational control reviews, which include evaluating the adequacy, effectiveness, and efficiency of the internal controls and proactively working with management to minimize risk.

Your Responsibilities

  • Perform risk evaluation of audit area to define scope and identify key controls for review.

  • Evaluate the design of controls and identify deficiencies.

  • Design and execute audit steps, including preparing work papers, schedules, and summaries, as well as documenting audit evidence, audit findings, and conclusions.

  • Leverage data and technology to evaluate processes and controls through analytics.

  • Complete work papers in compliance with department and IIA standards.

  • Draft audit reports to summarize findings and vet with audit area leadership.

  • Lead audit entrance and closing meetings.

  • Serve as primary day-to-day contact with audit clients, keeping them informed of audit progress and issues as identified.

  • Contribute to the improvement of Internal Audit Department processes and use of automated audit techniques.

  • Perform testing for Sarbanes-Oxley section 404 testing to ensure adequate controls are in place and are operating properly.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, information systems, or related degree required.

  • At least 3 years’ experience in audit or accounting.

  • Must have, or be willing to work toward, the CPA, CIA or CISA designation.

  • The candidate must have basic knowledge of computer system controls.

  • The individuals in this capacity must display sound business sense and logic and be able to distinguish between important and unimportant matters when evaluating audit results and making recommendations.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to collect, analyze, and evaluate information pertaining to audits and the preparation of written reports of work performed.

  • Ability to work well in a team setting.

  • Professionalism, dependability, integrity, and trustworthiness combined with a cooperative attitude.

  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to multitask and complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time.

Your Team

This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Director, SOX and Audit. You will have 4 peer teammates and collaborate with cross functional departments on a regular basis.

Your Work Location

As our Senior Auditor, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD. Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we’re located one block away from the North Bethesda Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.

Right now, our associates in corporate headquarters are working in a hybrid environment, up to 4 days per week in the office and virtually from your home office the remaining days. We provide flexibility and encourage ongoing communication with your leadership to establish expectations about your unique needs.
