JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for overall management of Health, Safety, and Environmental activities of the Niagara Falls PCR facility. Oversees the implementation and administration of programs, protocols, and procedures to ensure the maintenance of the safety, health, and environment of the plant, and its employees, contractors, visitors, and the community.- Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal occupational health, safety, and environmental laws, regulations, and guidelines, as well as with corporate health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. The incumbent is the primary contact for EHS questions and issues for the facility.

Essential Functions (The Percentage time must total 100%)

Works closely with all levels of the plant to assure that all Environmental, Health, and Safety risks are documented and appropriately ranked by priority for immediate and or scheduled action.- Is the key go-to person in the organization for all levels of HSE incident investigation and follow up. Develops and implements on-site health, safety, and environmental programs designed to protect the health and safety of our employees and eliminate risk to the environment. Moves the facility towards operational excellence by leading and championing the EHS related WCM Pillar and Projects.

Trains and advises the plant employees, contractors, and visitors regarding all Saint-Gobain EHS protocols and procedures. Develops and implements on-site environment, health, and safety protocols and procedures in accordance with general corporate policies and regulatory requirements.

Prepares and submits various Saint-Gobain Health and Safety reports and provides all required Environmental data and reports to requesting agencies.---

Inspects, evaluates, and oversees the disposition of all hazardous materials used and stored on site; monitors usage of hazardous materials and makes recommendations as appropriate. Monitors and inspects fire, safety, and environmental equipment and facilities for serviceability and compliance with established regulations, policies, and standards.

Maintains ongoing contacts with the NA and Worldwide EHS Managers. Keeps current on federal, state, and local legislation, regulation changes, and changes to fire/safety codes and manuals; maintains knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local fire, safety, environmental, and health regulations and procedures

Requisite skills include but are not limited to:

  • Performing on-site safety inspections and ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, NYDEC and other related regulations.

  • Ability to develop and implement standard operating procedures.

  • Skill in conducting incident investigations.

  • Knowledge of principles, procedures, and standards for the receipt, handling, storage, shipment, and disposal of hazardous chemicals and materials is required.

  • Knowledge of the nature and usage of a wide range of fire prevention, safety, health protection, and environmental protection equipment is essential.

  • Program planning and implementation skills.

  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.

  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.

Knowledge of the Saint-Gobain World Class Manufacturing (WCM) process as well as specialized EHS training in this area (HSE Green Belt) will be strongly taken into consideration and or will become a requirement for all candidates.

The incumbent must be able to provide clear and understandable direction/guidance to subordinates and to articulate and convey the significance of work to higher level personnel. He/She will possess skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and deliver presentations.
