Media Engineering is an innovative organization that is focused on providing the best possible video playback experience, art, and metadata to customers around the world, powered by exceptional technology. This strategic work requires streamlining and repurposing technology across different business and distribution channels – including streaming, linear, and theatrical – so that technology can ebb and flow across the needs of the business.

Processing Tools Team

This team is responsible for all tools that provide expert views into the media and metadata processing pipelines as well as engineering development and deployment tools for specialized media workflows that serve operations teams responsible for publishing content to Disney’s DTC services.

Responsibilities

  • Craft web application software using React, Python and Typescript or Javascript with strong software development fundamentals and strong design principles (object oriented or functional)

  • Provide on-call rotational support as needed

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.

  • 3+ years of related work experience.

  • Experience building APIs

  • Experience building high availability UIs with complex security requirements

  • Desire to work in a start-up, fast-growth, or rapid-change environment

  • Problem-solving skills to identify the root cause

  • Solid interpersonal skills – written, and oral

  • Understanding of agile methodologies and git source control

  • Experience with AWS technologies and cloud infrastructure

  • Experience using technologies/services such as Terraform, Jenkins and Docker

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA and in New York City, NY is $117,998 to $158,290 per year; the hiring range for this position in Santa Monica/Burbank/Glendale/L.A., California and in Bristol, Connecticut is $112,586 to $151,030; and the hiring range for this position in San Francisco, California is $123,328 to $165,440 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
