The Sponsor Finance Banker - Vice-President is a mid-level position in the Commercial Bank’s Sponsor Finance Group which is responsible advising sponsors and assisting them grow their portfolio by providing acquisition finance and commercial banking support to their portfolio companies. The VP will serve numerous roles as a member of this team focused on supporting the Senior members of the group with corporate finance and industry content, internal coordination across the organization and with the execution of episodic deals requiring a bank capital tranche as part of the overall solution. The job requires a base understanding of the various corporate capital raising options as well as some experience negotiating with clients. Excellent communication and diplomacy skills required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. The ability and willingness to develop and mentor junior members of the organization is also a critical responsibility of this position. Expect significant impact on the group and organization through complex deliverables to include thought leadership, producing industry linked corporate finance content and support of the execution of corporate finance transactions.
Responsibilities:
Partner with CCB Industry Coverage, Investment Banking and Capital Markets Origination teams to drive and execute episodic transactions with key stakeholders, including Risk and CLM, to properly extend bank capital in adherence to all Citi risk policies
Provide sophisticated financial solutions tailored to clients’ needs and act as a content provider on industry and market trends
Drives innovation on the solutions we provide clients while structuring deals to balance risk and reward.
Works with partners to help shepherd internal approvals; articulates financing strategies
Serves as an advisor to RM and Client
Shares knowledge with Coverage Teams and junior staff
Executes on strategic initiatives
Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and Citi's policies / guidelines at all time
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
6-10+ years of relevant experience
Demonstrated intellectual grasp of corporate finance concepts and corporate decision-making
Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
Education:
Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
Master's/MBA degree preferred from a top economics, business, or financial engineering program
