General Description

The Manager of Outreach, Onboarding, and Support Services (OOS) at the Institute for Justice and Opportunity is vital in supporting individuals transitioning from incarceration. This role ensures seamless integration into our community-based programs through strategic recruitment, comprehensive onboarding, and thorough needs assessment, maintaining a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, non-judgmental, and anti-oppressive approach.

Key Responsibilities:

Outreach and Recruitment:

  • Strategic Planning : Develop and implement innovative recruitment strategies. Regularly review and adapt these strategies with the Senior Director of Programs and Services.

  • Material Development : Collaborate with the Outreach, Onboarding, and Support Services team and other program teams to create and refine outreach materials.

  • Community Engagement : Represent the Institute at events to promote programs and build relationships.

    Onboarding Process:

  • Universal Onboarding : Co-lead with the Senior Director of Programs and Services and the Finance and Operations team to implement a universal onboarding process.

  • Information Sessions and Orientation : Oversee coordination and execution, ensuring new students are well-prepared.

  • Warm Handoff : Ensure seamless transition and continuity of care for new students.

    Assessment and Referral:

  • Needs Assessment : Conduct thorough assessments to develop individualized support plans.

  • Partnership Management : Maintain strong relationships with external organizations to ensure robust support services.

    Program Management and Evaluation:

  • Data-Driven Decision Making : Collaborate with senior staff to evaluate program effectiveness and inform improvements.

  • Goal Setting and Monitoring : Set and monitor team goals, implementing strategies based on data insights.

    Financial Coordination and Documentation:

  • Documentation : Oversee the collection and submission of receipts, sign-in sheets, and other documents.

    Team Management and Development:

  • Supervision and Support : Provide regular supervision and support for the Outreach, Onboarding and SupportServices team.

  • Professional Development : Participate and facilitate training in trauma-informed care, cultural sensitivity, and anti-oppressive practices.

  • Relationship Building : Foster a supportive and collaborative environment.

    Other Duties

    Additional Responsibilities:

  • Institute-Wide Participation : Lead and participate in team meetings and committees, supporting institute-wide initiatives.

  • Professional Growth : Engage in continuous personal and professional development.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Leadership and Collaboration : Strong leadership skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Trauma-Informed Care : Deep understanding and commitment to trauma-informed care principles.

  • Organizational Skills : Excellent organizational skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software; Salesforce experience is desirable.

  • Problem-Solving : Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach.

  • Communication : Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Boundary Management : Deep understanding of professional boundaries.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform general office duties and lift items up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to travel locally and occasionally nationally.

  • Valid driver’s license preferred

  • Ability to enter correctional facilities.

    Education and Experience:

  • Master of Social Work degree or equivalent in education and experience is preferred.

  • Minimum of two years of experience supervising relevant programs.

  • Proven ability to provide direct services and conduct assessments for individuals with incarceration histories.

About the Research Foundation

The Research Foundation of The City University of New York (RFCUNY) was established as a not-for-profit educational corporation chartered by the State of New York in 1963. RFCUNY supports CUNY faculty and staff in identifying and obtaining external support (pre-award) from government and private sponsors and is responsible for the administration of all such funded programs (post-award).
