Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, dynamic team as an Associate within the U.S. Loan Syndications team. You will provide broad range support to the team responsible for structuring, underwriting, and distributing syndicated loans for Scotiabank’s corporate clients. You will work with several senior individuals to support a wide range of clients across industries.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead preparation of customized pitchbooks, client proposals and general-purpose marketing material to support the team's origination efforts.

  • Prepare Confidential Information Memoranduma, Lender Presentations and other marketing materials for Lead Arranger transactions.

  • Maintain the group’s databases of transactions and syndication deal sites.

  • Build financial models to determine optimum capital structure for potential transactions.

  • Manage deal sites, answer investor questions and communicate with participating lenders.

  • Collaborate with various departments at the Bank across different sectors and functions to ensure seamless execution of transactions.

  • Support the negotiation of loan terms and documentation with legal counsel, culminating in the closing of transactions.

  • Conduct market research and remain current on the latest trends in the loan market.

  • Assist in the preparation of various management reports including league table reviews, client and prospective client tracking, market share and other ad hoc portfolio management reports.

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field. MBA/CPA/CFA or other industry designation is a plus.

  • 2+ years of experience in a Banking or Capital Markets related environment.

  • Accounting knowledge and experience in credit analysis required.

  • Considerable initiative, creativity, attention to detail and good judgement are necessary.

  • Self-starter and able to operate in a high energy environment.

  • Requires computer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiencies as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
