For additional information on CORE, please visit our website www.medicine.yale.edu/core The Senior Business Lead provides oversight of COREs government and nongovernment contracts and grants by serving in various capacities as a business/finance, contracts and compliance, and systems implementer lead. This role leads, oversee, and communicates effectively in a matrixed environment comprised of clinicians, health services researchers, technical experts, employees, contractors, and consultants involved in national projects focused on measurement and evaluation of quality and outcomes of health care. The Senior Business Lead ensures that all business/finance, contracting and compliance, and project activities are carried out according to project timelines and procedural guidelines, that deliverables are met and that resources are within the established budget by providing oversight, analysis of reports, assessing project performance, and following contractual obligations. In addition, they have a clear understanding of the overall grant or contract technical and business requirements, and effectively communicate the project /contract status to relevant department stakeholders. Lastly, the Senior Business Lead is required to liaise with department leadership and external stakeholders, provide supervision, training, teaching, and mentorship to employees, implement process improvements, maintain systems, and have the foresight to anticipate challenges and obstacles, and create solutions-oriented approaches for resolution. The list of accountabilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties that management may deem necessary from time to time. The duties of this position can be conducted remotely if that meets the business needs of CORE. Flexible work schedules and telecommuting are available if needed and subject to department approval. This position is co-terminus with funding. Responsibilities 1. Business and Finance 1.1 Collaborates with department leadership to align strategies with overall business objectives. 2. Contracting and Compliance 2.1 Formalize price negotiation process and procedure management to provide historic information and decision tracking. 3. Systems Implementation 3.1 Government cost accounting super-user for Unanet. 4. Other department responsibilities 4.1 Works with Business and Contracting and Compliance Teams to provide ad hoc information and analyses to address unanticipated budget and other assorted queries. Qualifications EDUCATION Bachelors degree required. Masters Degree in a variety of specialties including public health, healthcare management/administration, or business administration (MPH, MHA, MBA) or related field preferred. Project Management Professional Certification preferred. EXPERIENCE A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a project management role that includes relevant job experience in operational and financial nalysis, as well as day to day business operations and management of government and non-government grants and contracts. Relevant experience should indicate a demonstrated ability to manage large, complex projects and oversee work product of contract staff in a matrixed organization involving technical experts, policy makers, multiple stakeholder organizations, health services researchers and project staff resulting in successful completion of high quality deliverables, on time and on budget. Experience with federal contracting and NIH grants management and government cost accounting required. LICENSURE N/A SPECIAL SKILLS Project management experience with the financial and operational aspects of government contracts and grants. This includes experience with enterprise resource planning software tools to track and analyze timelines, and implement and monitor budgets, resources and expenditures. Demonstrated ability to successfully lead, coach, mentor, communicate and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and ensure timelines are met, and work is of high quality. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with highly technical staff and prepare proposals and necessary contract deliverables. Demonstrated ability to multi-task with a high-level of organization and prioritization combined with strong attention to details and accuracy; ability to be flexible and integrate feedback; ability to train, oversee and supervise the workflow of others. Ability to work effectively with institutional leadership (internal and external stakeholders and YNHH administrative leaders). Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and respond in a clear, concise, and timely manner. Foresight to anticipate challenges and obstacles and create solutions-oriented approaches to resolving. Proven organizational skills, including strong project management skills and excellent ability to follow through. Ability to handle professional matters with a high degree of tact and confidentiality. Proven commitment to continuous quality improvement and financial and workflow efficiencies.
