Alamo Group Inc. Field Service Technician in New Berlin, Wisconsin
Seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to travel to customer work sites to inspect, and service our heavy duty snow removal equipment ensuring product performance, address and resolve problems, and train end users in the operation and maintenance of our products.
Wausau Equipment Company two manufacturing operations in the State of Wisconsin.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Service company products at customer sites; testing, troubleshooting and adjusting as needed.
Provide technical support to customers in person and occasionally over the telephone, addressing and resolving questions and problems.
Communicate with appropriate company employees regarding product problems, root cause and corrective actions in accordance with company’s quality management system.
Complete all required records and documentation for customers and for the company.
Work from extensive wiring diagrams; blueprints, specifications, & layouts.
Use a variety of electrical testing and gauging devices and equipment.
Perform pre-delivery inspection, set-up and testing of equipment.
Provide delivery and in-service start-up of equipment.
Conduct training and service programs in the operation and maintenance of equipment for customer employees.
Perform assembly operations on a variety of heavy-duty snow removal products.
Select, cut, form and install wiring in accordance with specifications.
Utilize hand and pneumatic tools.
Install hydraulics and check for pressure and leaks.
Operate overhead hoists.
Proceed with minimal supervision & direction.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):
High degree of accountability to commitments and to the business objectives.
Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings and schematics; electrical and hydraulic.
Ability to understand harness diagrams.
Ability to fabricate parts as needed.
Basic understanding of design and electrical principles for mobile equipment. Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuitry.
Requires a basic mechanic tool set to successfully perform the job.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, managers and employees.
Proficiency with personal computers, MS Office and other technology (smart phone, etc.)
General understanding and experience working with fluid power, automotive circuitry and micro-processor controls.
Ability to work overtime and/or including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Ability to travel extensively year-round. Up to 95% travel in the USA and Canada.
Must have a valid US Passport, or the ability to obtain one.
Ability to be “on-call” 24/7 during winter season.
Education and Experience:
A minimum of 5 years previous experience as an industrial mechanic / heavy equipment technician.
Previous work experience in a role that requires travel.
Technical or associate’s degree in electro-mechanical technology or Automotive Technology strongly preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to work and travel in all types of weather. The employee is required to stand continuously, and walk frequently; use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, be able to move and change positioning frequently, including crouch, bend and twist. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. Standing, walking and some lifting while traveling. Use of vision, hearing, keyboarding and verbal communication is required.
