The Position

DMV Services Technicians provide customer services associated with driver's license, vehicle, and business occupational licensing programs including licensing drivers; issuing identification cards; registering and titling vehicles; issuing occupational business licenses; and processing reinstatements.

Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. This recruitment will be used to fill multiple vacancies as they occur within the Field Services Division, these positions are primarily located in the Las Vegas geographical area and are dedicated to customer service and the delivery of DMV programs and voter registration to the community. DMV Field Services Supervisors are responsible for overseeing refunds and fee overrides, monitoring Emission Control (EC-18) forms, confirming the forms are processed correctly and forwarded to the Compliance Enforcement Division. Reviewing technician errors and confirming they are forwarded to the appropriate supervisor. Supervisors respond to radio calls and assist other supervisors on staff as a backup when needed. Monitor the Queue desk on a rotating schedule and assist with customer concerns inside and outside of the building. Oversee plate inventory and communicate with customers regarding personalized plate orders. Ensure mail is routed to the correct destination within the office. Oversee Nevada Live and Driver's License Reinstatements confirming transactions are completed correctly, and documentation is sent to Carson City. Oversee coaching of new hire employees. Supervisors are encouraged to keep up the morale of the office as changes occur. Spend one on one time with team members and provide evaluations in a timely manner to encourage development. Oversee drive examiners and Medical Drives. Ensure timesheets are submitted with accuracy and on time.

To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of varied and increasingly responsible experience related to registration/titling of motor vehicles or licensing motor vehicle operators, one year of which was equivalent to a DMV Services Technician IV; OR two years of experience equivalent to a DMV Services Technician III.

Special Notes

In accordance with NRS 293.5045, the Department of Motor Vehicles, as a voter registration agency, shall not knowingly employ an individual in this class series who has been convicted of a felony involving theft and/or fraud. The Department of Motor Vehicles is required to comply with 49 CFR 1572.103 which provides that an agency involved in the issuance of Real ID Driver's Licenses shall not knowingly employ a person if they have been convicted of any of the felonies listed under this regulation. In accordance with 49 CFR 384.228, the Department of Motor Vehicles is required to conduct a national background check on any employee that administers Commercial Driver License (CDL) knowledge and/or skills testing, and the DMV shall not knowingly employ such a person if they have been convicted of a felony in the last 10 years or have been convicted of any fraudulent activities.
