Duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned: Research footwear trends & technologies, fashion trends relevant to our market categories, sport trends & product use, relevant to our market categories, voice of consumer, competitors' products. Help determine new assortment each season in collaboration with team. Provide presentation materials and storyboards to present new collections. Create designs, sketches, materials specifications, construction detail / construction sketches , logo and label design & detail, color assortments, assist with other aspects of design when needed/share ideas. Coordinate sample development according to seasonal timelines. Learn how material selection, construction technique and duty advantages affect the cost in order to adjust designs to meet needed price points. With guidance, communicate initial fit & style revisions to factory, including visits to factories. Work with Quality Department to resolve issues in fit and appearance as needed Track sample progress to maintain timely delivery of sale samples. Track wear tests and product testing. Assist in approval process to assure all details are finalized in time for factory to meet scheduled delivery of bulk production. Check pre-production samples for quality approval. Work with sales to design requests for special customers. Meet with consumers to enhance understanding of the market. Give presentations of the line. Work with marketing to communicate bullet points for packaging and catalogs. Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design from a four-year college or equivalent; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Four (4) to Five (5) years of designer or developer experience. Intermediate level of skill in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
