Omaha Public Power District Intern Energy Generation - Sum (May-Aug) 2025 - Prod Oper - NE City Sta in Nebraska City, Nebraska

Department/Business Unit: Production Operations/Utility Operations

Location: Nebraska City Station (rotating to North Omaha Station mid-term)

Duration: Summer Term (May - Aug) 2025 (Term end date flexible)

Other: Work 40 hours/week

Work Schedule: M-F - 8 hours/day

Pay: $22.07/hr.

Assist the Operators in the following job duties:

  • Assist with equipment rounds each shift, monitor equipment.

  • Assist with any Operator activity, only under the direction and in the presence of a qualified Operator.

  • Understand and use required PPE

  • Understand power plant operations

  • Assist with Contractor Oversight

    Qualifications

    Specific fields of study required: Energy Generation Degree Program

    Must be currently enrolled in the Energy Generation program at South East Community College - Milford or Metropolitan Community College

    Must be at the end of the second semester with satisfactory progress in the program.

    Must hold a valid drivers license.

    Must be able to work rotating 12hr or 8hr shift as assigned, and be able to report to Nebraska

    City Station or North Omaha Station.

    2.5 GPA or higher is required

    Good communication skills

    Ability to multi-task

    Project management skills

    Current full-time student attending an accredited college/university

    Technical Physical Demand: Must complete driving activities in support of position duties
