BURN MANUFACTURING Commercial Manager - Kenya in Nairobi, Kenya

About the role

Burn is looking for a Commercial Manager who will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive business growth and profitability.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Active participation in the development and execution of the commercial strategy.

  • Responsible for forecasting and coordinating all carbon projects and biomass demand plans.

  • Monitoring the progress of all carbon projects against targets & deadlines

  • In charge of pricing and price forecasts for the B2C range of products.

  • Responsible for the coordination of feasibility studies and market research.

  • Drive the expansion agenda of the B2C commercial department

  • Reporting on the performance of the commercial team.

  • Responsible for business analysis, biomass pilots and project follow-through

  • Responsible for compiling, evaluating and monitoring departmental expenses versus budgets.

  • Identifying and managing commercial risks

  • Playing a lead role in solving commercial issues that may arise.

    Skills and Experience

  • Experience developing business strategy and plans.

  • Bachelor or MBA degree, preferably in business, market intelligence, or marketing

  • 5 years of experience as Head of Sales or in project management and demonstrated ability to coordinate complex projects with many stakeholders to deliver results on time.

  • Last-mile sales and distribution experience.

  • Strong analytic/number-crunching background, particularly with sales and marketing data

  • High level of comfort working with cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. French would be an added advantage.

  • Enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, with a desire to deliver on time and willing to get your “hands dirty” when called upon.

  • Experience in developing B2C distribution models.

  • Hands-on experience in multi-country management.

  • Previous experience in market research or M&E preferably in the carbon market.

  • Ability to communicate, present, and influence all levels of the organisation, including executive and C-level.

  • Relevant experience within the startup space.
