In your capacity as a Principal Cloud Optical Network Engineer, you will be at the forefront of operating and deploying optical networking solutions, meticulously fine-tuned for the rigorous demands of AI-centric applications. Responsibilities

  • Operational Excellence: Lead mission-critical operations for fiber network, ensuring they meet the highest standards of reliability and efficiency. Turn operational hurdles into product improvements.

  • Rapid Expansion: Streamlining network deployments by contributing to cutting-edge automation for rapid and efficient infrastructure expansion.

  • Enhance Monitoring: Swiftly diagnosing and resolving network issues with minimal customer impact, backed by meticulous post-incident analysis as part of on-call responsibilities.

  • Customer-First Approach: Embody and promote a customer-first mentality within the team, ensuring all projects and operations enhance customer satisfaction and service quality.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with business partners and other teams across Azure to ensure 24x7 coverage of the operations of our dark fiber assets.

  • Process and Automation: Relentlessly drive process and automation improvements to improve network quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

  • 9+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND 6+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation

  • OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation

  • OR Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology,

  • OR related field AND 12+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation

  • OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology,

  • OR related field AND 8+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation

  • OR Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology,

  • OR related field AND 5+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation

  • 3+ years experience delivering network designs into production and experience with live site accountability for a network

  • 1+ year(s) experience developing

Cloud Network Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
