Lead Mechanical Engineer - Automated Technologies - Lifecycle Performance ServicesABOUT LPS PROJECTS GROUP:The Lifecycle Performance Services (LPS) Projects department, founded in 2018, is dedicated to implementing projects under the LPS division with a focus on optimizing our clients' distribution, sortation, and storage centers. We improve efficiency through system optimizations, equipment retrofits, additions, and upgrades, encompassing all aspects of transportation, sortation, storage, and supporting equipment. Our projects range from small equipment rebuilds or replacements to complete subsystem installations for a diverse range of companies in the logistics and warehouse distribution/fulfillment industries.JOB SUMMARY:The Lead Mechanical Engineer is part of a cross-discipline project team, responsible for the successful and on time completion of equipment upgrade and system integration projects. They work closely with other mechanical engineers, project managers, electrical and controls engineers, installation teams, permit specialists, and various support roles.The Lead Mechanical Engineer is the technical expert for their assigned business segment as well as executing assigned projects. Within this segment they are responsible for training, mentoring, process improvement, quality controls, and are the primary liaison with other teams outside of active project specific bounds.For assigned projects they are responsible for the successful execution of all tasks related to mechanical engineering on the project. These include engineering schedule, concept design, equipment manifests, equipment and material selection, creating material requisitions and securing bids in support of procurement, creation of installation drawings, field support, project documentation, and overall adherence to customer and governing agency specifications. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will, in most cases, be assigned a team of either in-house or subcontracted designers to support the creation of installation drawings and other various tasks.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Project Leadership: Responsible for the successful engineering and implementation of scope of projects as outlined above.Technical Subject Matter Expert: Document, formalize, and expand the engineering team's expertise, particularly in advanced technologies like ASRS, AMR/AGV, palletizers, and other automation technologies in the material handling industry.Continuous Improvement: Drive ongoing improvement in our capabilities by participating in initiatives for internal product enhancement.Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with other departments-including Sales, Applications, Technical Support, R&D, and Product Development-to leverage advanced technologies and identify new opportunities.QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent industry experience.(7+) years of experience in material handling equipment design. Must include experience with automated technologies and robotics. Is a plus to have experience in the following areas: parcel conveyor, distribution and fulfillment systems, Geek+, Autostore, Fanuc.Willingness to travel up to 20%.Proficiency with Autodesk software (AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault, Recap, Navisworks, and BIM) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Strong mentoring skills and a commitment to fostering a collaborative team environment.Critical thinking, prioritization, and creative problem-solving abilities.This job description describes the general nature and level of work expected of a person assigned to this position.
