Description The Department of Biology in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University Research Corporation is currently accepting applications for a Research Technician. About the Opportunity WVU's NSF funded RaMP program is a yearlong program for recent graduates that come from underrepresented communities, schools with limited resources, and first-generation college students that want to continue their education in research. The mission behind our program is to provide our 4 mentees with skills in research they would not have before the program to allow them to progress in the field of STEM. Mentees should have a passion for helping to solve the societal need for young, educated individuals in the three different One Health themes. The themes are Water Use & Quality, Environmental Contamination, and Biological Correlates of Disease. Together we want to build a community of dedicated researchers to help create solutions to societal struggles we face in the three core sections of one health. Oral and written communication of results. Mentees will acquire training in ethical and safe research conduct, effective experimental design and scientific writing. Skills in laboratory work and field and data analysis techniques that are immediately applicable in the current STEM workplace (academic or otherwise). Participate in weekly program, lab meetings, workshops and annual program meeting. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of six (6) months of related experience. Minimal experience in a research environment required.
