CAE USA INC Electrical Design Lead in Montreal (St. Laurent), Canada

About This Role

The Hardware Design Department is responsible for providing hardware solutions for all CAE training devices. Our multidisciplinary team, trained and dedicated to its task, has a vast know-how in many sectors such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and electronic engineering.

Our main mission is to design, customize and manage the development of cost-effective and innovative hardware solutions aligned with CAE’s strategic plan and our clients’ requirements. We are set to deliver highly technological products and services that are part of a digital ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of electrical engineers & technicians and the progress of the electrical design within the team to communicate it to the manager of the overall execution of the projects

  • Responsible for the technical solution to meet project requirements with the support of technical leads from different portfolios.

  • Responsible for reviewing the technical drawings of the team.

  • Responsible for providing high level technical directions to electrical designers.

  • Responsible for technical solution reviews, DFXs, to ensure cohesion between our teams.

  • Perform high-level task breakdowns for electrical projects.

  • Contribute to Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs), Detailed Design Reviews (CDRs) with our clients.

  • Contribute to Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) for a project in development.

  • Contribute to designing activities between different engineering groups and manufacturing.

  • Contribute to the analysis of drawings, specifications and requirements of both internal and external customers.

  • Support the manufacturing team.

  • Act as a mentor for less experienced colleagues.

  • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement activities.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years experience.

  • Several years of experience working at CAE or in the field of aeronautical simulation, an asset.

  • Excellent team spirit and good communication skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to manage time effectively and perform multiple tasks at a time.

  • Ability to manage priorities in a context of multiple and complex deliveries.

  • Mastery of electrical engineering concepts.

  • Mastery of electrical systems, avionics and power systems.

  • Mastery of aeronautical instrumentation, analog/digital conversion, serial communication buses such as RS-232/422, USB and ARINC 429, ARINC 600 and Mil-1553 standards.

  • Mastery with E2A, Powerdraft.

  • Mastery of PLM systems.

  • Bilingualism (French and English) is essential.
