Apply for Job Job ID361981 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyResearch-Support Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code8352P2 Employee ClassCivil Service Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job About the Job Position Overview The Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) is now hiring a Lab Manager to support Dr. Ka I Ip (PI)'s research in his Development, Affective Neuroscience, Culture, and Environment (DANCE) Lab. This is a full-time (100%) one-year, full-time position. The lab manager will work closely with the PI, postdoctoral trainees and graduate students, and a group of undergraduate research assistants to conduct research on child development involving the use of physiological (RSA, cortisol) and neuroimaging (fNIRS and EEG) assessment, surveys, behavioral assessment, and observation. This position involves, but not limited to, lab management, project development, data management & storage, supervision & training, participant recruitment, outreach, and data collection. More detailed responsibilities are listed below. In addition to assigned duties listed above, this position includes time for the lab manager to receive professional and research mentorship from Dr. Ip from D.A.N.C.E Lab and the broader ICD community. These activities will facilitate the lab manager's future graduate school applications, funding applications, and broader professional development. This position is based on campus. All UMN employees are expected to follow applicable public health and safety procedures. Mostly regular working hours 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Mondays - Fridays, will require evenings and weekends for lab experiments or special events. Job Responsibilities Lab Management (20%) * Build and manage lab infrastructure, including website, lab equipment and space * Manage lab funds, including participant payments; ordering lab supplies; track lab expenses; and other administrative tasks as needed * Data management and cleaning * Organize lab meeting and social events to maintain a lab culture Project Development (30%) * Assist and manage study protocol, including submitting study-relevant materials, creating, and amending protocols and continue review for Institutional Research Board (IRB) * Assist PI, postdoc, and graduate students with their on-going studies. Supervision & Training (20%) * Train and supervise RAs on data collection * Design training protocol and organize training materials * Day to day supervision for RAs * Draft documentations of instructions, manuals, and templates for training purpose * Supervise RAs for recruitment, scheduling and communicate with participants. Participant Recruitment and Data Collection (20%) * Assist with recruitment, outreach, and data collection. Research Project (10%) * Conduct independent study with the supervision of the PI. Qualifications Required Qualifications * BA/BS in psychology, sociology, neuroscience, or a related field, with at least 2 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 6 years. * Ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities. * Experience of using EEG and physiological measures * Experience working/interacting with children, adolescents, and adults * Previous experience with Qualtrics, REDCap, Box, SPSS, and R, and willingness to learn more * Able to collaborate with other lab members and create a lab culture * Strong English language skills (both speaking and writing) * Willingness to commit to 1 year in this position * Willingness to work weekday evenings and weekends Preferred Qualifications * Excellent multi-tasking skill * Excellent communication skill and able to provide clear and informative instructions * Flexible in time * Able to work well under time pressure About the Department Department Overview: The Institute of Child Development (ICD) at the University of Minnesota has long been a premier center for scholarship, te ching, and outreach devoted to the understanding and fostering of child development.
