Bio-Techne Assistant Corporate Controller in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Position Summary

The Assistant Corporate Controller will directly report to the Corporate Controller. This position will assist the Corporate Controller with the oversite of the monthly close and review of results, oversee technical accounting including M&A activity, will own the SEC reporting processes, and identify and drive process improvements. These tasks will require a high level of interaction with teams across the globe and external auditors. This position will have very strong visibility and will regularly interact with the C-level officers of the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own SEC reporting including 8Ks, 10Ks, and the annual proxy. Maintain robust processes and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Complete technical accounting assessments, maintain global accounting policies and procedures, and assist where needed in higher level technical areas of monthly close.

  • Provide expertise on complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, and financial instruments.

  • Stay current with changes in accounting regulations and standards; analyze their impact on the organization and recommend appropriate actions.

  • Oversee teams responsible for equity related accounting including share-based compensation system management and sales tax compliance.

  • Own fair value assessments including annual goodwill impairment assessment procedures and purchase accounting.

  • Assist with M&A accounting including diligence and subsequent integration into the corporate structure.

  • Partner with Corporate Controller on regional and global initiatives to support business leaders as well as identify and drive process improvement initiatives including increased use of technology.

  • Regularly perform and/or review internal controls in adherence with SOX.

  • Mentor and develop team members focusing on continuous improvement and collaboration.

  • Primary liaison with external auditors ensuring timely resolution of matters.

Professional Experience / Qualifications

The successful candidate is personable, highly ethical, and thrives in a collaborative environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience leading diverse teams, and a desire to grow professionally.

Requirements include:

  • 8-12 years of experience, recent public accounting experience with focus on SEC registrants preferred

  • Previous management experience required

  • Strong time management skills with ability to consistently meet deadlines and quickly switch priorities as special projects arise

  • Strong technical accounting abilities. Experience with cost accounting, share based compensation and income taxes is preferred.

  • Demonstrated SEC reporting experience for a publicly traded company

  • Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships across functional areas

  • Outstanding leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Proven as an experienced, confident and mature manager.

Education

  • Bachelors degree is required

  • CPA is required
