JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Analyze and design analog and digital electronic circuits including signal conditioning, power, analog-to-digital conversion, transformers, inductors, amplifiers, and communication
· Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware
· Develop test criteria and assist in the design of test systems including test software applications
· Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions
· Design, analyze, and test underwater acoustic systems
· Design and build prototype cable assemblies
· Perform solder rework of prototype circuit card assemblies
· Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer
· Generate design and interface documentation
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor"s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.
· Experience with the engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation and test phases
· Working knowledge of transformers and inductors, and how to size them including key parameters such as flux density magnetizing current, leakage inductance, transformer and inductors losses and temperature rise.
· Working knowledge of op-amps and transistors, including Bipolar, JFETs and MOSFETs
· Experience with analog and digital circuit design including signal integrity principles
· Working knowledge of common communication interfaces such as Ethernet, RS-485, USB, CAN bus, LVDS, and protocols such as TCP and UDP
· Proficiency in all phases of PCB design, including: creation of high-level functional and architectural diagrams, SPICE analysis, power analysis, component selection, schematic entry (OrCAD Capture experience a plus), and working with the PCB layout team to optimize placement, signal integrity, fitment, etc.
· Familiarity with underwater acoustic principles
· Strong documentation and communication skills
· Experience with the following a plus: battery systems, electric motors, and MATLAB programming
