* _We are looking to hire someone to work in either our Columbus, Ohio or Merrillville Indiana office with a hybrid schedule (2 days/week in office)*_

Job Summary

The Manager, Strategy & Risk leads the analysis of opportunities and risks and the development of cross-functional initiatives in the advancement of NiSource's strategy. It partners closely with leadership within the Strategy and Risk organization and across NiSource's businesses to understand the trends impacting our businesses, now and into the future, and to identify long-term strategic activities that will drive value and enable growth in an evolving energy ecosystem. The role will leverage both internal and external resources to advance analyses and initiatives, all within the constraints of budget, schedule, and scope while managing risk and ensuring adherence to established processes. The role reports to the Director, Strategy & Risk and is responsible for leading and developing a team of analysts.

Essential Functions

  • Manage all aspects of team member development including recruitment, selection and hiring, on-boarding, professional development, performance feedback and succession planning

  • Lead business and market analyses and reporting that provide strategic and actionable insights to senior leaders across the organization

  • Develop understanding and perspectives, primarily through research, on major industry trends and their potential implications for NiSource

  • Proactively monitor, track, interpret and share key industry, regulatory and technology trends to guide leadership in decision making

  • Lead the development and execution of cross-functional projects and initiatives that advance NiSource’s strategic positioning; inclusive of:

    • Ensuring alignment with senior management on project objectives, organizational requirements, change implications and progress
  • -Identifying and recruiting resources to support Subject Matter Expert (SME) roles for task completion; defining roles and responsibilities and clarifying expectations with team

  • -Developing a cohesive timeline of execution to support both budget and project completion expectations; identify

  • and communicate project milestones necessary to close project

  • -Creating and maintain comprehensive project documentation and adherence to established project management protocols

  • -Managing the risks that may jeopardize the on time and within budget objectives; establishing contingency plans to mitigate risks and issues, and socialize with management

  • -Evaluating performance against defined project goals

  • -Conducting post project reviews to capture successes and opportunities for improvement

  • Develop and maintain relationships with leaders across the company to foster understanding of business needs and integration with strategy and risk objectives

  • Drive and advance Business Planning processes and procedures across NiSource, in close consultation with departments such as Financial Planning & Analysis and Regulatory

  • Evaluate, document and improve existing processes within Strategy and Risk organization

**Required Qualifications For Position**

  • Bachelor's Degree From an accredited college/university in Business, Finance, Economics or other related areas

  • Minimum of 4-6 years experience in strategy, corporate development or consulting with demonstrated experience leading projects and teams

  • Advanced critical thinking, logic, and problem solving skills including the ability to rationalize complex, multi-faceted problems into smaller, manageable issues required

  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, consistency, and dependability

  • Ability to lead through others and establish teams of cross functional members to champion a cause

  • Demonstrate sound judgment and initiative in working within departmental and corporate guidelines, including the ability to handle highly confidential information.

  • Strong time management skills, ability to prioritize, and the ability to effectively advance multiple competing priorities

  • Demonstrated ability to develop clear and logical presentations

  • Proactive work style and ability to work independently and manage cross-functional activities with limited oversight

  • Ability to represent the company in a credible and professional manner.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams and PowerPoint) is required.

**Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position**

  • Master's Degree MBA or similar advanced degree

  • Previous experience at a regulated utility or energy industry experience

  • Prior experience managing a team

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)

  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)-PMI

Salary Range:

$125,800.00 - $188,600.00
