Job Title: Quality Engineer Department: Manufacturing - Meridian FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: Plant Quality Manager Positions Supervised: N/A Summary Ensures compliance and effectiveness of the quality management system, while continuously improving products and processes to drive towards safe production, zero defects, customer satisfaction, and cost of non-quality. Essential Job Duties • Develops and implements quality standards, practices, and procedures. • Executes the site's quality management system as directed. • Works with the operations team to develop effective employee training programs. • Manages the quality inspection and audit program, ensuring completion and compliance. • Responsible for incoming supplier quality of raw materials and outsourced products • Manages the CAPA process, works with the team to determine root cause, and implements effective corrective actions. • Maintains quality reports and data analysis as required. • Analyzes data sources from internal quality reporting and customer feedback for improvement activities to improve defect rates and continuously reduce the cost of nonquality. • Interfaces, communicates, and collaborates with other functions in the company as needed. • Adhere to and uphold all Fairbanks Scales policies and procedures. Required Qualifications -- Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.) • This position requires a bachelor's degree in industrial, manufacturing, mechanical, engineering, or equivalent. • Must have three to five years of experience in a quality assurance role in a piece part production operation. • Experience in managing per ISO 9001:2015. • Six Sigma certification a plus. Page 2 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -- May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills and abilities commonly associated with this position. • Knowledgeable in welding quality standards, including AWS D1.1 • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint.) • Critical thinker with exceptional attention to detail. • Excellent problem-solving skills. • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing. • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously. • Able to effectively drive change on the shop floor by engaging others. Work Environment -- Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. • General office conditions within the front office. Exposed to moderate noise levels. • General Manufacturing environment includes regular exposure to loud and distracting noises, outdoor climate and weather fluctuations including temperature, humidity, rain, etc., dust, uneven ground, exposure to hazardous equipment, and contaminants.
