AutoZone, Inc. Staff Accountant, Store Inventory in Memphis, Tennessee

Job Description:

The Staff Accountant, Inventory, is part of the Merchandise Accounting organization. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Preparation of weekly store inventory packets, including items not on file and bad count review. Includes ongoing communication with the LP and Store Operations field for research and resolution of issues identified.

· Analyze store inventory results for variations from trend and/or predictive model.

· Upload manual store inventory schedule for the upcoming fiscal year. Includes working with Loss Prevention to ensure time between inventories is within established thresholds.

· Prepare Store Inventory Monitoring report to identify stores that need to take inventory which are currently not scheduled.

· Prepare Store Inventory Forecast to ensure inventories are tracking within established thresholds

· Process store inventory date changes ensuring proper approvals.

· Reconciliation of weekly systematic entries to the Mainframe to proactively catch potential errors/inconsistencies in the General Ledger.

· Review of store supply expenses outside of established thresholds and follow up with store and/or DC for explanations/corrections.

· Correct systematic journal entries in error status.

· Process weekly inventory items re/devaluations and store order pack changes.

· Research questions and accommodate requests from the field sent to the “Inventory Questions” email.

· Accommodate internal and external audit requests.

· Complex journal entry preparation that involves data management and strong accounting skills to ensure financial reporting complies with GAAP and company policies.

· Perform balance sheet reconciliations and analyze accounts for compliance with basic and complex accounting and valuation concepts.

· Other key responsibilities as identified

Education and Experience Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a minimum of 1-3 years of related experience

· Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills

· Advanced excel as well as experience with SAP is preferred

· Ability to manage competing priorities and meet constant deadlines

· Ability to succeed in a team environment

· Excellent organization skills and detail oriented
