South Pike School District Diesel Mechanic in McComb, Mississippi

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • A satisfactory driving record
  • Valid MS Class "B" Commercial Drivers' license with a "P" endorsement
  • Must be ASE Certified or willing to obtain ASE certificate in various areas of expertise
  • Must have a license for certified mechanic and drivers' license

REPORTS TO: Transportation Director or Designee

MISSION & GOALS Coordinates activities and work load to make sure district buses, and other vehicles and equipment are properly maintained.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assures adequate maintenance and repair records are maintained for District vehicles and equipment
  • Utilizes the Automated Fleet Management System
  • Recommends major equipment and vehicle replacements
  • Periodic Bus inspections
  • Maintains the ability to diagnose, repair, rebuild and make necessary adjustments on all vehicles systems.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge and ability re repair components on all systems, including the ability to operate shop equipment
  • Performs trouble shooting and related repairs on district vehicles
  • Maintains shop area, upkeep of tools for a clean safe area.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts , interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Terms of Employment: To be determined by the School Board of Education in compliance with already established job calendar days.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Provisions on the Board's Policy of Evaluation of Non Classified Personnel.
