Responsibilities You will advise technicians on methods of inspection, identification, mitigation, and repair, research and analysis, and resolving problems with corrosion on aircraft systems. You will demonstrate procedures and observe and evaluate performance of military technicians and determine need for future training. You will assist, train, and demonstrate the best methods of prevention, inspection, treatment and documentation of corrosion. You will develop training plans and identify corrosion control training programs, which will ensure personnel are trained to prevent, inspect, and treat corrosion. You will provide technical assistance by reviewing operation, maintenance and installation procedures and other technical data. You will propose changes, additions and recommendations for improvement of weapon systems, their support equipment and associated logistics issues. You will participate in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and Technical Working Group (TWG) meetings convened by the Government to provide corrosion control technical expertise and consultation services. You will perform special project assignments related to assigned specialized information on new systems and equipment. You will review and provide advice on technical equipment data for procurement package and maintenance manuals. You will provide technical advice while investigating and analyzing accidents, incidents and system equipment failures. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For GS-1670-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying knowledge of airframe and airframe sub-system operations to difficult and complex assignments such as planning and conducting work that requires significant judgement in evaluating, selecting, preparing, designing, modifying and adapting to maintenance and training procedures; 2) Providing technical advice and assistance on the inspection, identification and repair of corrosion; 3) Serving as the technical expert to independently analyze and resolve problems on assigned aviation systems and make recommendations for corrective actions; 4) Reading, interpreting and determining the technical validity of blueprints, schematics, work orders, engineering change orders and technical literature; 5) Demonstrating an understanding of logistic elements associated with assigned systems, supply support, publications, facilities, equipment, training and design interface. For GS-1670-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Demonstrating knowledge on airframe and airframe sub-system operation, maintenance concepts, principles, and practices; 2) Assisting on inspection, identification and repair of corrosion; 3) Helping the technical expert in analyzing and resolving problems on aviation systems.
