Position Summary
This is work supervising food service workers engaged in preparing and serving food at Sunland.
The Work You Will Do
Supervise and assist food service activities, communicating and allocating duties to subordinates. Evaluate employees as personnel dictates and applies all rules of Employee Handbook and Sunland SOP to assure that the work of each employee is the maximum potential of their ability and in accordance to their job responsibilities. This includes but is not limited to timeliness of reports, leave and attendance, evaluations, etc. and whatever task deemed necessary to keep Sunland food service operating on a daily and ongoing basis. This includes completing assigned staff training deemed mandatory on a daily and ongoing basis.
Ascertain that food is prepared as recorded on production sheets and as recipes require in safe and sanitary conditions. Ascertain that portion are adequate and in accordance with production sheets. Service lines must be properly set up by staff to begin service at 6:00 A.M., 10:00 A.M. and 4:15 P.M. and food is constantly available as needed and at proper temperature.
Ensures work area is clean and sanitized at all times. Ensures hair control nets are worn at all times; ensures hand washing and gloves are used frequently as required on a daily and ongoing basis.
Responsible for storeroom/walk-in freezer issues when Stores Supervisor in not available. Responsible for ensuring security measures are practiced at all times. This includes but is not limited to making sure all dining room/kitchen doors and vehicles are properly locked, completes daily temperature logs on a daily and ongoing basis.
Exhibits a positive work attitude in working with all people, residents, co-workers, management, and community on a daily and ongoing basis.
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred; At least 4 years of professional food service experience. College education can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for up to three years of the required experience provided such education includes three courses in any of the following areas: food and nutrition, hotel and restaurant management, institutional management, or food service. Completion of a program of study from a vocational/technical school in a food service area can substitute for one year of the required experience.
Preferred; ServSafe certifed.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of the equipment, procedures and techniques used in food service.
Knowledge of food service safety and sanitation procedures.
Knowledge of food service purchasing procedures.
Knowledge of maintenance requirements of kitchen equipment.
Ability to supervise people.
Ability to train others in food service procedures and techniques.
Ability to plan and make bulk food purchases.
Ability to plan and direct food service for large groups of people.
Ability to determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in the State Personnel System is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.
Background Screening Requirement
It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
