Data Engineer, Specialist (The Vanguard Group, Inc. / Malvern, PA) -- Write ETL (Extract / Transform / Load) processes, design database systems, and develop tools for real-time and offline analytic processing; troubleshoot software and processes for data consistency and integrity; integrate large scale data from a variety of sources for business partners to generate insight and make decisions; translate business specifications into design specifications and code; responsible for writing complex programs, ad hoc queries, and reports; ensure that all code is well structured, includes sufficient documentation, and is easy to maintain and reuse; partner with internal clients to gain an enhanced understanding of business functions and informational needs; gain expertise in tools, technologies, and applications/databases in specific business areas and company-wide systems; lead all phases of solution development; explain technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients and less experienced team members; test code thoroughly for accuracy of intended purpose; review end product with client to ensure adequate understanding; provide data analysis guidance as required; design and conduct training sessions on tools and data sources used by the team and self-provisioners; provide job aids to team members and business users; test and implement new software releases through regression testing; identify issues and engage with vendors to resolve and elevate software into production. Requires Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or closely related IT field and two years of experience in job offered or in IT position(s) including Data Engineer. Background in education, training or experience must include Python, AWS, Data Analytics, Spark, Docker, SQL, Big Data, and GIT. Company operates on hybrid model with three days in office and work-from-home available two days.
