TEKsystems IT/Application Support Specialist in Madison, Alabama

The job description is below, but based on the position qualification conversation with the HR manager, this is a position that will primarily be responsible for the maintenance and support of the SAP (ERP) application. The company uses SAP for accounting and some HR functions. This support technician will also be the secondary point of contact for the company's IT/technical support.

JOB BRIEF:

The IT technician is tasked with monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks. The IT Technician coordinates with IT staff on both shifts to update and install systems, work on projects, and complete work orders within the IT ticketing system.

A successful IT Technician must have a thorough understanding of computer software, hardware, networking, and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). The ideal candidate will also have great troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and communication skills.

The overall goal is to maintain computer systems and networks, and to optimize the role of technology on business sustainability.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Take possession of Client/User/IT/Communication concerns.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot manufacturing software and equipment.

• Investigate computer issues for plant and office personnel.

• Advance concerns to appropriate personnel when necessary.

• Provide technical support for any plant and office personnel during shift hours.

• Maintain inventory list of IT equipment.

• Provide support for all communication systems including telephone lines, cellular phones, cabling, telecommunication billing, fax, copier and ordering of services and supplies.

• Install and configure new systems and reallocate older systems.

• Routinely update ticketing system on a regular basis.

• Maintain effective security and virus protection systems for server and desktop computers.

• Other tasks and responsibilities related to IT coverage for the company.

• Work in both an office setting and production/manufacturing area with exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.

• Moderate levels of walking, standing, bending, and lifting when performing job duties in the production area. Office setting requires sitting and use of a computer terminal/workstation.

• Address IT issues that interrupt production operations as overseen by both Operations/Production management staff and IT Manager.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

• High School Diploma

• Two-year degree or accredited certification in Computer Science or Information Technology preferred

• Desire 2-3 years experience in IT-related work

• Previous experience or working knowledge of NYSUS or SAP ERP (or equivalent ERP knowledge)

• Ability to troubleshoot networking technologies, both hardware and software issues

• Experience with DOS and other legacy applications

• Proficient in MS Office applications: Word, Excel, and Access

• Proficient in Spiceworks Ticketing system

• Action oriented, high level of energy, and results oriented

• Excellent diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Oral and written communication skills

• Comfortable in a diverse and fast-paced environment

• Working knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles

• Dependable and communicative work style
