Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

Perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on mechanical assemblies and subassemblies such as modules, panels, drawers, frames, and cables. Work from diagrams and drawings, make initial layouts, and use hand and/or power tools, jigs, and saws. May conduct quality inspections on the processing line in accordance with quality specifications. May disassemble, modify, rework, and reassemble prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly operations on mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.

  • Work from diagrams and drawings to make initial layouts.

  • Use hand and power tools, jigs, and saws effectively.

  • Conduct quality inspections on the processing line as per quality specifications.

  • Disassemble, modify, rework, and reassemble prototype assemblies and subassemblies.

  • Resolve routine questions and problems and refer more complex issues to higher levels.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on assembly experience in an aerospace, defense, or high-tech manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical assembly processes.

  • Ability to work with both hand and power tools.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, technical diagrams, and wiring schematics.

  • High level of attention to detail to ensure assemblies meet all technical requirements.

  • Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues in the assembly process.

  • Familiarity with computer systems for inputting assembly data, tracking progress, and effective communication with other teams.

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy components.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in the aerospace and defense sector.

  • Knowledge of advanced quality control techniques, including measurement and inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).

  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance in the aerospace and defense industries.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., IPC-A-610 for soldering) are a plus.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Madison, Alabama.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
