Job Summary

The Mobile Maintenance Mechanic performs a variety of duties in and around the hospital complex to insure the safe and efficient operation and repair of all equipment and support systems

Job Specific Responsibilities

Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:

Assures equipment is being maintained in an energy efficient and safe manner to reduce down time to a minimum of necessary repairs; keeping records of past operating experiences

Assists in maintenance and repair efforts

Performs inspections and repairs to assigned property interior and exterior areas, including walls and flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, etc

Completes assigned tasks that may include painting, locksmith work, tenant service requests, snow removal, and other general maintenance as assigned

Maintains documentation of work performance and materials procurement as directed

All other related assigned tasks

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED

  • 3 years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic electrical and plumbing

Required

Licensures/Certifications/Registrations:

Must possess a valid state drivers license and be eligible for coverage under UMC insurance

Skills and Abilities

Familiarity with various types of electrical systems, plumbing, painting, mechanical repair, and general building techniques

Knowledge of compliance to DNV, state, county, and/or city ordinances, codes, and laws

Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift, and drive

Ability to work independently or in a team environment

Effective communicator, both orally and in writing; fluent English language required

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships

Interacts on a daily basis with staff, visitors, and patients throughout the hospital

Physical Capabilities

Must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. Work involves prolonged standing, heavy lifting, and frequent bending, stooping, and reaching on a daily basis.

Environmental/Working

Conditions:

Work may be in or outdoors in inclement weather at times.

May require frequent work with environmental hazards (i.e., noisy environment, with infectious agents, near power supplies/machinery, etc.)

Must be available for emergencies after hours and on weekends, when needed.
