Responsibilities

Weatherford is currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to support a distributed team responsible for well planning and survey analysis software. This position can be home based or office based.

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development, review, re-factor, and maintenance of software with quality and performance. This role is also responsible for contributing to the development efforts for software applications. This includes, analyze, evaluate, and design advanced applications. This role is also responsible for developing complex areas of the application, analyzing requirements, and creating technical design documents.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, review, re-factor, and maintain software with quality and performance.

  • Collaborate on planning, development, and testing to meet “definition of done” criteria.

  • Take initiative to identify issues and work collaboratively across teams to resolve problems.

  • Actively participate in Scrum / Sprint process, including the review of backlog stories, planning meetings and priority setting of work efforts.

  • Be effective in reflection, retrospection, and constant incremental improvement.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Engineering or Technology, or related technical field.

  • Minimum 5 years of applicable professional experience in a similar role.

  • Proficient skills using programming languages like C++, C# and frameworks like .NET, Qt, WPF.

  • Proficient with using software design principles (Object oriented programming, MVVM).

  • Experience with database (SQL) design and management.

  • Proficient understanding of Software Engineering standard practices and coding guidelines.

  • Ability to learn rapidly and master diverse technologies and techniques.

  • Ability to troubleshoot software issues and debug a large codebase.

  • Proficient using Microsoft standard development tools – Visual Studio and Azure DevOps.

  • Advanced estimation skills with experience to assist in estimation.

  • Ability to work independently by establishing responsible deadlines and personal work plans.

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient analytical and reasoning skills with an ability to visualize processes and outcomes.

  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies.

  • Demonstrates flexibility in day-to-day work.

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized.

  • Ability to work and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Awareness and respect for confidentiality and data protection issues.

    Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Engineering or Technology, or related technical field.

  • Minimum 5 years of applicable professional experience in a similar role.

  • 2D and 3D graphics development.

  • Web application programming - Angular, HTML, JavaScript.

  • Knowledge of microservices.

  • Familiarity with Cloud platforms.

  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
