Insight Global Cable Plant Technician - Fiber & Copper in Los Angeles, California
Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Cable Plant Technician for our higher education client in Los Angeles, CA. This role will require being onsite 5 days per week, working from 7am 4pm daily. This is a 2-month contract will possibility to extend. Candidates must have a valid California drivers license and clear driving record as they will be using the clients company vehicle. This role will be about 60% operations and 40% project based. Work will be related to the inside and outside plant infrastructure, consist of DigAlerts, excavations etc. You will create and maintains documentation of all underground utility fiber, copper splices, ducts, and vaults, building intermediate and main distribution frames (IDFs and MDFs) on existing university AutoCAD files. You will evaluate existing systems and equipment to determine if they require expansion, modification, or replacement to meet the universitys present and future telecommunications needs. You will support day-to- day network field service operations, implementations, and upgrades (e.g., DigAlerts and university cable service requests). Installs, tests, repairs horizontal wiring, risers, fiber optic and copper cables across university buildings and other facilities. Candidates must have steel toe boots and ideally a vest and hard hat.

Skills and Requirements
Experience with Fiber and Copper cable placing, installing, terminating, troubleshooting etc
Copper experience with 568B, ability to use link runner and test/confirm cables are clean
Proven experience with fiber/copper/network testing tools, splicing, and testing indoor and outdoor fiber and copper, and troubleshooting copper/fiber cables used in voice/data systems
Collaboration, communication, and technical documentation skills, with experience reading floor plans and site plans, and developing network flow diagrams.
Strong written and verbal communication
Experience working with Microsoft office products and good typing skills
Valid California Drivers License and clear driving record
Be open to working onsite 5 days per week Higher education experience
