WSP USA Senior Project Manager - Energy in London, United Kingdom

Become a part of an expanding UK team of Project, Programme, Construction, and Commercial Managers, with a focus on career growth professional development and advancement. We are looking for people with experience within the Energy Sector which might comprise experience of Regulated Networks, Non-Regulated Networks, and/or Renewables.

About the Role:

YOUR TEAM

You will be part of our wider Project Management and Commercial Management Team (PMCM), made up of over 400 professionals across the UK and sit within our Civil Infrastructure and Utilities Group. Your future development will be actively supported with access to WSP’s full range of training, development tools and resources and be part of transforming UK infrastructure.

You will integrate into our team’s flexible working culture, offering a balance of home and office working, where safety and wellbeing are paramount.

A typical Day would include:

  • Ensuring compliance with quality management systems, and drive efficiencies throughout project execution;

  • Providing leadership and guidance to project teams in a multi-disciplinary environment;

  • Providing leadership and support to business development, cross-selling, networking, work winning, and supporting the marketing of WSP services

  • Organising and chairing client meetings;

  • Work with autonomy to plan, monitor and control high value projects;

  • Effectively manage project change and deliver projects within agreed commercial fee arrangements;

  • Undertake contract management and administration under a range of framework and standalone contracts;

  • Undertaking leadership role and line manager responsibilities for a team, as required;

  • Making decisions on complex issues and providing direction regarding approach and priorities;

  • Providing strategic direction to clients aligning with their strategy, requirements and project scope;

  • Being accountable for project delivery performance including financial, people development and engagement, enhancing technical expertise and client satisfaction.

  • Collaborating with key stakeholders across the UK

  • Influencing decision-making processes to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives, leveraging strong communication and negotiation skills to drive consensus among stakeholders.

  • Driving innovation and productivity through the development and implementation of new tools and methods.

  • Providing visible leadership in safety, health, and wellbeing, committed to a zero-harm culture.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience of working in the regulated environment such as Energy, Telecoms, Water etc.

  • Understanding of the energy sector and regulatory issues affecting the industry, including long term internal and external influences;

  • Capable of developing and maintaining strong client relationships

  • Track record of delivering projects and/or delivering consultancy services across all stages of development.

  • Professional qualification in project management, quantity surveying and/or an engineering discipline; for example Association of Project Management (APM), Managing Successful Programmes (MSP), PRINCE2..

  • Excellent leadership skills, and can build and maintains relationships with good interpersonal skills;

  • Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Maths (STEM) or similar disciplines;

  • Attained NEC accreditation and attained the necessary skills to lead and administer NEC Contracts

  • Membership of professional institutions, preferably Chartered; Association for Project Management (APM), Project Management Institute (PMI), Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or Member of Institute of Civil Engineers (MICE);

  • Demonstrate competence in stakeholder management, risk, planning/scheduling, and commercial management.

  • Proficiency in use of project management tools and software;

  • Demonstrable experience in a collaborative integrated delivery team.

The opportunity could be suitable for an individual with a background in complimentary disciplines such as Commercial Management or Civil Engineering but with clear evidence of Project Management experience in the Energy Sector, or another relevant Utility or Infrastructure Sector.
