Technical Sales Representative:

Established leader in manufacturing equipment located in Ann Arbor, MI is searching for an External Salesperson. The selected individual will provide direct sales for capital equipment by building an understanding of customer requirements, explaining benefits of products, answering technical questions, creating pricing quotation documents, and closing on large $ value sales. Ability to travel up to 50%, required.

Responsibilities

 

  • Establish new, and maintain existing, long-term relationships with customers to maximize customer potential in designated regions;
  • Identify prospective customers by using internet searches, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences.
  • Manage and interpret customer requirements - listen to clients and use astute questioning to understand, anticipate and exceed their needs
  • Persuade clients that a product or service will best satisfy their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery;
  • Work with management to quote pricing, terms, warranties, and delivery dates
  • Negotiate terms and conditions and close sales to meet both client and company needs
  • Enter all sales activity and record and maintain client contact data in Company CRM software tool.
  • Meet regularly assigned sales targets;
  • Make technical presentations to demonstrate how a product will meet client needs;
  • Liaise with other members of the sales team and other technical experts;
  • Solve client problems;
  • Estimate or quote prices, credit or contract terms, warranties, and delivery dates.
  • Consult with clients after sales or contract signings in order to resolve problems and to provide ongoing support.
  • Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports, keeping sales records, and filing expense account reports.

  • Attend and represent the company as required at industry events

Expectations:

  • Make 3-4 prospect contacts each week to identify new business opportunities with new customers
  • Develop a pipeline of business equivalent to 3-4 times annual quota through pursuit of inbound leads, networking, referrals and self-generated opportunities.
  • Have an average of no less than 1 meeting each week to advance sales
  • Enter all existing and new account activity into the CRM within 48 hours & maintain all customer data, sales activity and forecasts in the CRM system
  • Follow up quote requests & formal RFQ's with a target customer within 3 business days of receipt.
  • Follow up on trade show, incoming marketing leads or business card information/referrals within 3 days of receipt
Experience and Education
  • Four-year degree or minimum 15 years applicable professional experiences.
  • Experience in sales highly desirable, but not required.
