Plant Engineering and Maintenance Manager

Summary

We seek a highly motivated and experienced Engineering and Maintenance Manager to lead all plant engineering and maintenance activities. This crucial role ensures the optimal operation of the plant through effective management of production equipment, utilities, budgets, and personnel. You will collaborate with various departments to plan and prioritize projects, develop and implement preventive maintenance strategies, and oversee the work of project engineering and maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with plant leadership and departments to plan, organize, and prioritize plant projects, including scheduling and resource allocation.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance strategy to minimize breakdowns and production disruptions.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation regarding machine conformity and environmental protection.

  • Lead the development of corrective and preventive action plans based on identified safety, quality, and environmental concerns.

  • Partner with the Production Department to plan shutdowns, equipment upgrades, and address equipment breakdowns.

  • Participate in the creation of the Master Plan for the site and finalize the annual investment plan with the Plant Manager.

  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and ensure a readily available inventory of spare parts and consumables.

  • Provide leadership and training to project engineering and maintenance staff to enhance their technical skills and optimize performance.

  • Enforce safety regulations for staff and external stakeholders, ensuring adherence to protocols like hot work permits, lockout/tagout procedures, and proper machine guarding.

  • Collaborate with HR and Safety departments to coordinate and enforce security policies within the plant.

  • Manage departmental budgets, analyze costs associated with technical solutions, and work with Procurement to identify and select the best value suppliers.

  • Design and implement automation solutions for various manufacturing processes, including assembly, testing, packaging, and inspection.

  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs, robots, and other automation equipment.

  • Document and maintain automation specifications, diagrams, manuals, and reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Automation, or a related field) required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance and/or engineering within a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience.

  • Food and/or dairy industry experience a plus.

  • Proficiency in IT tools and data analysis.

Job Title: Technical Manager

Salary: $100k - 120k per annum
