Lima Allen County Regional Planning Commission Account Clerk in Lima, Ohio
Definition:
This position performs general accounting duties including accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, verification of receipts and deposits, preparing and maintaining records, record meeting minutes, and interact and assist members of the general public among other job obligations. Pay: Starting Hourly Rate of $21.00/hr
Required Training and Experience:
- The position requires experience in bookkeeping and general accounting, including responsibilities for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial record keeping.
- The position requires the successful completion of an Associate's degree in accounting (or a related field such as business or public administration, etc.) and one (1) year of accounting experience, or a high school diploma with relevant coursework and three (3) years of accounting experience.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in accounting software are essential.
- A valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license is required.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- The position requires a solid understanding of basic accounting principles, including accounts payable/receivable, bookkeeping, and payroll processes.
- The ability to assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial records, invoices, and reports is essential.
- The ability to maintain accurate financial records and knowledge of material preparation for audits is critical.
- Proficiency in using computer software packages, including spreadsheet applications and accounting software, is required; understanding basic forecasting techniques is helpful.
- Experience with clerical tasks and financial document preparation is fundamental to position responsibilities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary for interacting with staff, vendors, and clients. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently and as part of a team.
Description of Duties:

Performs general accounting operations including but not limited to payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general bookkeeping procedures utilizing various accounting software.
- Supports the administration of the finance and financial reporting systems for the MPO.
- Provides the Executive Director and other MPO management with general financial information and reports relevant to current issues or projects.
- Prepares and maintains financial records, including invoices, purchase orders, and general ledger entries to ensure compliance with federal funding and contractual reporting mandates.
- Assists administration in preparing, tracking and monitoring the MPO budget.
- Performs clerical research of accounting matters.
- Supports the administration of agency human resource functions.
- Answer telephone and greet visitors.
- Take and transcribe meeting minutes as required.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Executive Committee, or various other committees of the LACRPC.
