Position Overview:

POSITION OVERVIEW

The 2nd Shift Fabrication Lead manages a team of fabrication employees, taking responsibility for coordinating daily tasks, managing work schedules, and fostering a productive, safe, and high-performing team environment. This role plays a critical part in supporting continuous improvement initiatives and achieving production goals under the direction of the Production Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Supervision and Scheduling: Oversee a dedicated team of fabrication employees, managing daily work assignments, scheduling, and task prioritization. Ensure that team members are clear on responsibilities and equipped to meet production objectives.

Quality and Safety Compliance: Ensure that all work adheres to quality standards, identifying and addressing issues to maintain product consistency and excellence. Enforce safety protocols and procedures, conducting routine checks to provide a safe work environment.

Continuous Improvement Support: Implement continuous improvement practices at the team level, identifying ways to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality. Encourage team involvement in improvement initiatives.

Employee Development and Engagement: Support team members? growth and development by providing on-the-job training, coaching, and performance feedback. Foster an environment that promotes engagement, teamwork, and accountability. Hold quarterly performance check-ins with team members to aid in individual development.

Performance Monitoring: Track daily production metrics, monitor team performance, and report issues or improvements to the Production Manager. Ensure production timelines are met and that any challenges are quickly addressed to support on-time delivery.

Collaboration and Communication: Serve as the liaison between the team and the Production Manager, communicating key updates and feedback. Work closely with other teams, such as quality and maintenance, to ensure smooth operations and quick resolution of production issues. Facilitate thorough communication between all shifts and departments within production.

QUALIFICATIONS

Extensive experience in welding and machining.

Experience in a production or manufacturing environment, ideally with previous leadership or supervisory experience.

Solid understanding of quality control, production efficiency, and safety standards.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage a production schedule.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, train, and motivate a team.

Problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing production challenges and supporting improvement initiatives.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position works indoors with exposure to moderate-to-loud noise.
