The OPTIONS Liaison/Co-Responder provides Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), Substance Use Disorder (SUD) overdose response and follow up. Duties, including but not limited to, screening, behavioral health crisis de-escalation, assessment, referral to community treatment services and resources, system navigation, short-term Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and behavioral health interventions, and aid in completion of the State's Medicaid program application for the uninsured population, in collaboration with local law enforcement.

    DUTIES:

  • Responds to SUD/OUD-related emergency calls along with law enforcement, or other first responder agencies, prioritizing nonfatal overdose calls and the highest needs requests for support, as able.

  • Responds to behavioral health and mental health related emergency calls along with law enforcement, or other first responder agencies, prioritizing competing demands through triage, when possible.

  • Coordinates with a Recovery Coach, Peer, or Patient Navigator, as available, to provide post-overdose response and support to overdose survivors within seventy-two (72) hours after a non-fatal overdose event, to include: provision of information around Harm Reduction, treatment and recovery support services that are available, and the availability of naloxone if requested.

  • Coordinates with community resources and client treatment team, as available, to provide post response and support. Provision of information around community resources, services, supports and other options for services that are available.

  • Provides Naloxone kits and Naloxone administration training in the specific type of Naloxone being provided to the individual and/or affected others during the post overdose follow-up.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

  • Knowledge of Behavioral Health, Substance Use Disorders and Co-Occurring treatment services equivalent to completion of a Bachelor's degree and at least three years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • MHRT/C preferred. 

  • State of Maine CADC/LADC preferred; minimum CADC required within 9 months of employment. 

  • Must possess a valid State of Maine driver's license.
