Summary:
In this role, you’ll manage a team of frontend and backend engineers in the Core development group. This group is responsible for providing common, reusable frontend components and backend services for Vivint’s business-facing teams. Vivint recognizes the value of reducing duplication of functionality across teams and Core’s mission is to bring about that change. You’ll play a critical role in leading your team to deliver common services and visual components that provide high value to the company. Utilizing these common services and visual components written using .Net Core (C#) and Vue.js, Vivint’s business-focused teams will be unleashed to transfer resources away from maintaining redundant systems and instead will have a greater ability to focus on delivering more value for their customers. The right candidate for this position will have a lasting impact on the success of Vivint’s software for years to come.
Primary Responsibilities:
Coach, empower, and challenge a team of engineers to grow their skills and impact as technical experts of Core’s products and services
Hire and retain top talent
Be a trusted resource for technical feasibility questions from Product Management and UX
Collaborate with your peer engineering managers in Core to function as one team, delivering cohesive solutions
Build and maintain strong relationships across Vivint Engineering and lead collaboration and onboarding of teams who integrate with Core visual components and services
Partner with System Architects to deliver products and services that seamlessly fit into a greater Vivint software ecosystem
Required Skills:
A self-motivated exceptional people leader with experience building and leading high-performing teams, ideally with remote or hybrid teams
Proactively give and receive feedback with a growth mindset
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; adept at active listening
A sense of ownership that motivates you to lead your team to deliver real value despite any external or internal roadblocks
Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Computer Science preferred)
5+ years developing software
2+ years leading a software engineering team
Preferred Experience:
8+ years developing software
4+ years leading a software engineering team
Microsoft Azure
Microservices and Kubernetes
Vue.js
.Net Core (C#)
Integrating with third-party services
