Position Summary
The DC Power Battery Technician is responsible for traveling to customer sites, representing the company’s values, and ensuring that their equipment is serviced to the standards of Southwest ToyotaLift.
This position is primarily responsible for planning and coordinating activities concerned with installing equipment, investigating, and resolving customer reports of technical problems with equipment, and eliminating future operational or service difficulties by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities
Follow all company policies and procedures as listed, but not limited to warranty, safety, environmental, OSHA, and DOT Hazmat.
Travel to customer sites to install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance to customer’s equipment to include flooded and sealed batteries, chargers, and handling equipment.
Performs Preventative Maintenance inspections of customer’s batteries, chargers, battery handling equipment, and battery changing/charging area and records data.
Interacts with all levels of people, both inside and outside the company.
Removes and disassembles cells and inspects parts to detect defects.
Replaces defective parts, reassembles battery, and fuses lead parts with gas torch.
Fills cells with acid solution and determines specific gravity of solution.
Washes, cleans, and neutralizes customer’s batteries at customer ‘s location.
Diagnoses and repairs battery charging equipment.
Installs, provides preventive maintenance, and repairs battery handling equipment.
Operates material handling equipment per OSHA requirements.
Installs new or modified equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications.
Performs inspections and analyzes findings to determine source of problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
Coordinates problem resolution with technical support, customer service, sales, and other personnel to expedite repairs.
Provides on-site technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment.
Maintains records of performance reports.
Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.
Develops and conducts training on the safe operations of the equipment and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers.
Maintains a safe, orderly, and clean working environment.
Ability to professionally communicate with customers both in-house and in the field; and build strong relationships
Capability to trouble shoot mechanical issues and write clear job recommendations and descriptions
Demonstrate knowledge of parts and the ability to determine if parts are needing to be replaced or repaired
Communicate effectively with supervisors and escalate issues as needed
Complete paperwork, as needed, to open work orders / close work orders accurately and in a timely manner to ensure appropriate processing and billing
Keep van clean. Report any vehicle problems to your supervisor.

Qualifications
Qualifications
Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years industry related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and industry experience; or at least one year motive power shop service experience with SWTL or qualified competitor.
Excellent driving record (as shown on current DMV report)
Must be able to pass background and drug screen checks
Ability to communicate clearly verbally and written
Customer service attitude and aptitude
Expected to attend technical classes when offered by management
Appearance must be neat, clean, and professional
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to repetitively stoop, bend, push, pull, squat, climb, and kneel on a regular basis
Must be able to physically operate power machinery, use hand tools, use air compressor tools, band saw and department grinder, steam cleaner and parts washer machines.
Must be able to physically lift 50 pounds unaided and occasionally required to lift up to 100 pounds.
Must be physically able to operate / drive a company vehicle

Wage Range D.O.E.: $29.00/hr. to $35.00/hr.
