LOCATION : Lancaster, PA
HOURS : Full-Time, Day Shift. Monday-Friday. hours are between 6:30am to 5:00pm (rotating shifts).
Travel to off-site clients and other Occupational Medicine Locations
POSITION SUMMARY: Provides technical support for the physicians in Occupational Medicine and coordinates the day-to-day patient flow within the department. Patient care includes care to patients in the following age groups:adolescent (13 through 18 years), adult (19 through 64 years) and geriatric (65 years and above).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
Administers drug screens according to each company's written protocol. Observes chain of custody and witnesses female specimens when necessary.
Collects blood, urine and other specimens as indicated by established procedure.
Administers pulmonary function tests, explaining procedure to patients.
Performs audiometric testing to meet OSHA standards.
Identifies examination, prepares EKG strips for delivery and prepares the service requisition as required by the Cardiology Department. Performs EKG's for cardiologists.
Administers eye examinations and uses Titmus eye machine; records results on appropriate physical forms. Maintains knowledge of ICC and FAA standards.
Dispenses and administers medication from doctors’ written order. Keeps accurate account of medications dispensed each day. Records medication charges in the computer, including Hepatitis vaccines, PPD’s, Tetanus, etc.
Provides minor wound care that includes assisting physicians with the suture of lacerations and application of sterile dressings.
Measures and fits patients with proper splints and supports (i.e. ankles, wrists, thumbs, crutches, slings, etc.) And teaches patients how to use them.
Telephones employer to report status of physical exam or work injury visit. Provides communication regarding status of employers’ third party payer as appropriate. Contacts patients to resolve identified difficulties with those that are noncompliant with treatment plans. Contacts employer of patient who fails to keep appointments.
Inputs data into computerized patient record system.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:
Escorts the patient to the staging area, performs height and weight measurements as necessary.
Occasionally orders and maintains business office and medical supplies. Restocks and prepares exam rooms at the end of each shift.
Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Lancaster General Hospital requires a licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse for this position.
CPR Certification
One (1) year nursing experience in acute or ambulatory care setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- One (1) year physician office experience.
