SUMMARY

Operates packaging lines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Fills, secures, and labels containers according to company and/or customer specifications. Verifies goods packaged against Master Packaging Record (MPR). Reads and understands Standard Operation Procedures (SOP). Works under the close direction of senior personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include the following as described in this section other duties may be assigned.

  • Tend automated packaging lines to ensure quality standards and to minimize waste
  • Fill cartons with packaged product after visual inspection and lot code check
  • Inspect raw material and packaging components for defects
  • Test finished product for leaks, quality seals and accurate labels
  • Examine, measure and test containers and materials used to package product for conformity to specifications
  • Correct or reject packaging components and finished product
  • Convey and load raw materials into hopper for packaging process
  • Stack and secure packages onto pallets for shipping purposes
  • Maintain work area and equipment to the highest standard of cleanliness
  • Observe all safety rules and perform duties in a safe manner
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

This is an entry-level position and requires no experience. Employee will be trained using TWI training techniques.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
