Locally, we are leading challenging projects and providing design expertise on projects across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic.Our office in Charleston, WV is seeking a senior project manager/engineer, specializing in bridges. As a Senior Bridge Engineer you will predominantly be involved with bridge or civil structure projects, but will also have exposure to different structural projects. You will work across projects for railways, highways, related transportation projects and, of course, bridges.You will have exposure to all sorts of duties; actively participating in: Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for new projects, weighing alternatives and selecting the most cost effective solution Analyzes technical problems, assessing the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures, and devising new approaches and alternative solutions Design and develop plans and drawings, which may include the development of preliminary layout and/or final drawings Research the feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications Field investigations, inspections, and repair recommendations Provides project management responsible for leading your own transportation and infrastructure projects as well as take a forward-facing role with the client You will be expected to: Plan and review the production of engineering drawings, specifications engineering investigations and planning work Lead junior professionals and technical personnel on the design and drafting of preliminary and final plans Coordinate with all staff, including other disciplines, to maintain project execution and control to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through final design on Bridge projects Supervise and/or participate in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others Assist with creation of project scope, cost and manpower estimates, schedules and job budgets Provide guidance and support to younger engineers, fostering their professional growth through mentorship and knowledge sharing We invite applications from candidates with the following experience: BS or MS in engineering with a structural emphasis, a MSc is a plus 12+ years in the Highway Bridge field including Project Management experience with transportation projects Registered as a professional engineer (PE) in WV or ability to obtain within a reasonable amount of timepreferred Experience working on structural bridge design projects for DOTspreferred Proven technical writing and communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills, including organization and attention to detail A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position Familiarity with Bentley products and/or AutoDesk, and bridge design software such as LARSA, SAP 2000, STAAD Pro, OpenBridge, CsiBridge, MIDAS, AASHTOWARE Bridge Rating, and MDX Our teams are comprised of bright and enthusiastic people who wish to make a difference to the world that we live in.
