Job Description

CrossBoundary is recruiting a full-time Associate to join the Investment Advisory team in Ukraine. As a member of the team, you will be working on impactful transactions in Ukraine, in addition to building CrossBoundary’s long-term presence in the region. 

As an Associate, you will be tasked with evaluating investment as well as capital raise opportunities, conducting macroeconomic market assessments, and providing transaction support to both investors and capital seekers. Ideal Associate candidates should have 3+ years of relevant experience working in investment banking, management consulting, private equity, or similar with a reputable institution, and possess a thorough understanding of the Ukrainian market and investment landscape

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support CrossBoundary’s work on the USAID Ukraine Harvest Activity, focused on investment advisory in the Ukrainian agricultural sector

  • Company identification and evaluation

  • Identify and rigorously assess investment opportunities

  • Market assessment and ongoing market analysis

  • Conduct macroeconomic, regulatory, and operational assessments

  • Provide sector analysis of priority areas for investment

  • Investors identification and building relations

  • Assist in identifying qualified investors

  • Manage numerous investor relationships

  • Transaction support

  • Assist and often lead a team in supporting complex transactions

  • Team support

  • Mentor junior team members

  • Support with recruitment

    Qualifications 

  • 3+ years of relevant experience working in investment banking, management consulting, private equity, or similar with a reputable institution

  • Experience, knowledge, or strong interest in agribusiness

  • Strong quantitative skills and finance background

  • Good command of financial modelling, presentations, and familiarity with valuation techniques

  • Excellent analytical ability and discipline; ability to think clearly, structure problems logically, and then design and implement solutions that focus on the core issues 

  • Ability to build strong relationships with partners and colleagues

  • Excellent presentation skills with an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences 

  • Self-starter who is passionate about creating lasting change in frontier markets 

  • Comfort with ambiguity; ability to operate effectively in a changing context 

  • Willingness to work and live in a sometimes-challenging environment 

  • Knowledge of Ukraine investment landscape, with previous work experience in Ukraine/Eastern Europe being viewed favourably

  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders (including private equity firms, Development Finance Institutions, and development agencies) to support investments in high-impact sectors 

  • Proficiency in Ukrainian and English

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • CFA or similar professional certification considered favourably

Location 

The Associate will be based in Ukraine (preferably in Kyiv but to be confirmed with each individual candidate).
