Strategic

  • Contribute to the development of the department's strategy; ensuring contributions are aligned with the broader MUFG strategy and business plan

  • To manage and improve operational risk, efficiency, productivity and customers' relations to achieve the set goals and objectives of the assigned departments and that of the Bank

Financial

  • Manage the department’s cost to ensure it is aligned with the bank’s business plan

Customer

  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder management with key stakeholders both within MUFGM and externally.

  • Work in partnership with other regional divisions, such as Japanese and Global Corporates, Transaction Banking to understand unique transaction requests, investigate solutions and support in the development of transaction processing solutions.

  • To provide advisory support to customers, as and when required

  • To provide advisory support to other Head Office Divisions, Regional and Branches, as required

People

  • Responsible for managing (objective setting & performance management)

  • Developing (coaching, career progression & training) and

  • Rewarding (financial and non- financial reward proposals) for Direct Reports.

  • Support, coach and guide team on work-related and complex issues

  • Assist in the training and development of individuals to ensure high level of job knowledge

Other/ Control

  • Advise on regional and local operations processes and workflows, to deliver best practice, efficiency and mitigate risk

  • Resolve business critical issues and manage conflict in line with MUFG and regulatory requirements (if any) to ensure that business is not adversely impacted.

  • Review reports prepared by the team including but not limited to financial reports, exceptional handling reports, incident and payment activity reports

  • Responsible for the overall performance of the team, ensuring appropriate capability building activities are in place and in line with future needs

  • Support to investigate incidents within the department by preparing incident reports and providing recommendations to mitigate risk in the future

  • Review and analyse exceptional handling transaction requests to ensure the transactions processed are in compliance with MUFG policies and regulations

  • Develop departmental initiatives to drive process and system improvement / efficiency

  • Participate in relevant committees within Branch/region

  • Manage the risk profile of the department's by ensuring the team understands and comply with MUFG policies and local regulations in order to process sound transaction payments to customer in a timely manner

  • Prepare team to manage contingencies and sustainability of operations

  • Lead and oversee internal and external audits by coordinating activities for the department

  • Report to Branch management regularly on opportunities/risks and recommend appropriate actions

  • Maintain good working knowledge of industry trends, products, relevant laws and regulations

  • Act as a trusted advisor to management/leadership team on deposits & payments related topics

  • Perform role as per letter of appointment and/or delegated authority
