Summary You will serve as a TOOLROOM MECHANIC SUPERVISOR in Code 900F.22, IPE MAINTENANCE & TOOLING BRANCH, MAINTENANCE PROGRAMS DIVISION, PRODUCTION ENGINEERING & FACILITIES, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will participate in a wide field of personnel matters concerning subordinates including performance ratings, leave requests, disciplinary and commendatory actions, promotions and demotions etc. You will enforce safety, fire, and other regulations and maintain good housekeeping in work areas supervised. You will assign work to subordinates either by oral or written instructions. You will plan division of workload among employees based on capabilities of available employees, material and machines, and shift in priority of projects. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: * Maintaining, adjusting, sharpening, and repairing tools and mechanical equipment kept in the shop tool rooms. *Resolving work problems and taking necessary corrective action to overcome such delays as bottlenecks, equipment breakdowns and material shortages. *Interpreting blueprints, sketches, specifications, job orders, and preparing layouts, and patterns. *Inspecting work in progress and upon completion assuring efficiency, economy, and safety of operations. *Training subordinates in work methods and procedures, proper use of tools and equipment.
