Project Overview:

Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy.

Woodside Energy is Australia's leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source.

Job Summary:

The Craft Supervisor Earthworks is responsible for supervising and directing operations within the Civil discipline where you will ensure assigned construction performance is following specifications and within schedules and budgets.

In this role, you will monitor and organize planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders’ involvement.

This is a FIFO role working 3:1 roster based in Karratha, WA.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff within the area of responsibility.

  • Role supports on mid-size projects of medium to high complexity with multiple stakeholders’ involvement.

Planning

  • Monitors subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.

  • Reviews subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.

Safety / Quality

  • Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements

  • Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.

Technical

  • Supports Construction Field Engineers, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents

  • Coordinates engineering solutions with Field Engineering and Craft Professionals.

  • Other responsibilities as designated.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience​.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of EPCM contract Management, and the Contractor(s) and their subcontractor’s (if applicable) responsibilities. Knowledge of construction technologies. Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities. Familiarity with current industry quality standards.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.

  • Strong technical knowledge of Earthworks from Bulk to Final Trim Excavation/Backfill.

  • Working knowledge of Earthworks Equipment/Plant, i.e. Excavators, Graders, Dozers, Tippers.

  • Working knowledge and understanding Soil Volumes with Cuts and Fills.

  • Working knowledge of Compaction properties/specification methods for Backfilling.

Additional Information

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).

The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site.
