North Star Scientific Corportion Mechanical Engineer 1 in Kapolei, Hawaii
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Provides mechanical engineering support for design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing of ruggedized radar and communication systems. Designs electronics packaging, cooling systems, cable assemblies, test fixtures, and other custom parts and assemblies using 3D CAD software. Assists in the thermal and structural analysis of designs using analytical and computational methods. Creates drawings, bill of materials, written procedures, technical reports, and other design documentation. Assists in the performance of testing to verify designs meet requirements. Assists in the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment such as temperature, altitude, and humidity chambers and electrodynamic shaker systems. Provides technical support to the quality assurance department. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under the supervision of a lead mechanical engineer. The duties listed above are intended only as a general illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. Other duties may be assigned by management.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: *
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering.
Abilities, Knowledge, and Skills: High level of verbal and written communications skills. Possession of Computer Skills in the following area: Mechanical and/or thermal Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools (Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, CFDesign, COSMOS/FloWorks, ICEM CFD, etc.). Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Professional Suite. Will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with 3D CAD design software such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, and CATIA. Familiarity with structural and fluid dynamics simulation software such as SolidWorks Simulation, SolidWorks Flow, STAR-CCM+, and Ansys. Competency in the preparation of engineering drawings in accordance with ASME standards. Experience designing ruggedized electronics packaging.
